Hello, I'm Tim Hack, owner of Star Tek Recycling. I was born in Hardinsburg, Ky., and lived most of my childhood in the Meade County area with my four brothers and five sisters. Early on I had a fascination with the way things work, especially mechanical things. I just wanted to understand more about everything! At the same time, I was developing a strong sense of family values; where things like honesty, respect, and hard work were held in high regard. As a young boy, I was mowing lawns and collecting aluminum cans from the roadsides near my home. Working in tobacco fields came next, and before long I was Disassembling Scrap transmissions and engines after school and on weekends. I began to rebuild some, and that made me a little more money. I worked hard, saved some, and spent the rest carefully. By age fourteen I had enough money to buy a used pickup truck, and kept enough cash to hire someone older to drive me around so I could buy Scrap engines and transmissions. I'd bring this home to an old empty barn, where I could disassemble them to part out or rebuild. I discovered that there were a lot of reusable parts that I could sell back to garages, Re-manufactures and transmissions shops all around and there were quite a few such shops with in a hundred mile radius of home. This kept me busier than your average kid! By applying lessons learned at home about how to treat people, and how not to, I was able to keep a good deal of business going. In fact, it began to grow as I learned more about what I was doing. I learned a few very hard lessons, but those are the ones you never forget, so they only strengthened my business in the long run. I found that I really enjoyed this kind of work, and the more I liked it, the less it seemed like work. I believe that is the key to any success. I still like this work, and I think it shows at Star Tek Recycling. I still try to treat people the way I want to be treated, and you still get the very best service possible from me and my employees. That's a promise you can bank on.
